Justin Dutraive Beaujolais Plan B 2022

Born and raised in Beaujolais, Justin Dutraive has Gamay coursing through his veins at this point. After years of working at his family’s domaine, he ventured out in 2015 to create his own label and with the help of his father he was able to secure some remarkable vines.

The wines are ethereal and playful, crunchy and fresh. They’re interesting without being overly complex and most importantly just plain old enjoyable. Justin, similar to his father, farms organically and believes in minimal intervention. The grapes are hand harvested, they undergo a native yeast fermentation and sulfur additions are minimal and judicious if added at all.

Due to the severe frost in 2021 Justin was unable to get fruit from his Les Bulands vineyard, so he had to go with ‘Plan B’ and purchase fruit from Southern Beaujolais. The lightest and freshest of the bunch, with notes of red fruits and a hint of cracked pepper.
